Welcome to The Holmestead: Print & Business Services

The Holmestead: Print & Business Services provides the expertise and services your business or organization needs for upgrading your client perception, new branding, event and product marketing. We bring 25+ years of graphic arts experience to the Trent Hills and surrounding areas. We provide all the services to give your business or event the best impression.

Whether you require marketing strategy, creative insight, printing, graphic design, embroidered apparel, engineered drawings, large format output, photography, signage, displays, Social Media, business writing, e-newsletters and event marketing and more, you will find the widest variety of business solutions under one roof at The Holmestead.

In order to serve you better, we moved from 308 Front St. North to larger facilities at 89 Front St. South in October 2012. The new premises offered not only more space but more efficient and safer production. In the summer of 2014, we renovated and introduced our new digital press – a Xerox C75.

We also brought in a self-serve photocopier and we still offer engineering drawings output. With a comfortable reception area, clients can peruse samples of our products, explore materials from a variety of local business services, and have a coffee.

We have expanded our sign production in-house and have taken over what was previously the Boardroom. Larry Burnett was kind enough to build this magnificent Production Table. These changes will make the vinyl lettering and signage projects more efficient and better quality.

When we partner with a business to help them create a better impression, we do whatever is necessary to produce the highest quality products. We design and copy edit, photograph to get the best images, then working within our client's budget and requirements, we will produce the items required. This can include everything from a CD with advertising materials for a year, websites, social media set ups, printing, signage and so much more. When we update or create a new logo, we provide the client with a CD containing colour and black & white versions ready to use in Microsoft applications, email signatures, websites and social media, as well as vector formats for printers to use for advertising, signage, vehicle lettering and printing. We can also provide a stitch file for the logo ready to use for embroidery. We do all we can to provide our clients with everything they need to help them make a better impression.

The Holmestead is a client of Business Advisory Centre's Faster Forward Program. This amazing program mentors businesses. For $149 you are a lifetime client and have access to mentors from all aspects of business. We just wanted to ensure we were pricing correctly and we received so much more. We are now confident in our future goals and continue to grow with employees and services. See more at Faster Forward.

The Holmestead Team

The Holmestead is owned and managed by Schelle Holmes. Schelle and Co-owner, Freeman Holmes are pictured right.

Ms. Holmes started in the graphic arts industry in Toronto in 1986. She has been graphic designer, print and design studio manager, and marketing go-to person for small- and medium-sized businesses all over the GTA and here in Trent Hills. She and her husband, Freeman Holmes, moved to Trent Hills in 2008. Volunteering and working with community organizations, such as the Warkworth Business Association (past Director), Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation, Percy Agricultural Society, Brighton Arts Council and Trent Hills & District Chamber of Commerce where she is Past President, has given her an understanding of the wants and needs of businesses and organizations in this area. In 2014, Schelle became a Rotarian in the Campbellford Rotary Club.

Chelsea Mannik (on the left) waltzed into The Holmestead Team as a Junior Graphic artist without missing a beat. Chelsea is a Dean’s List graduate from the Graphic Design program at Loyalist College. She started out as a theatre technician and next an event manager, but when she put on her graphic design pants on, they ended up being the best fit. She loves typography, doodling, singing loudly in her car, new challenges and coffee. She was Loyalist’s Digital Marketing Designer for a year, an intern at Fine Line Design in Stirling, and is now excited to be part of the awesome team at The Holmestead. Chelsea is already creating great designs for our clients.

Thank you Kim at CareerEdge for a fabulous member to The Holmestead team!

Our 2016 Summer Student

Summer Alvarado-Chinnery is working with the team this summer to help pay for her first semester of the Graphic Design program at Humber College in the Fall. Sumer is a graduate of CDHS and works at the Aron Theatre as well. We are showing her all the aspects of graphic arts and hopefuly helping her to be one up on school when she gets there.

Elizabeth Renaud came to play with our team in 2014. She brings a wealth of knowledge in editing, word smithing and proofreading. Elizabeth comes from a graphic arts background to Trent Hills and was part of the team that started our Aron Theatre Cooperative off the ground. She now works in all phases of The Holmestead operation, to keep her "challenged and in the thick of things".

Wendy Van Der Werff keeps us all in line. Wendy is the numbers lady.

We are but one of her many clients. SHE IS VERY PATIENT ABOUT KEEPING US ON TRACK!

Aubrey DeLuca does freelance design for The Holmestead as a Senior Graphic Designer. Aubrey is a graduate from Ryerson University and an incredibly talented designer.

Tiana Barker (see her great logo created as part of her co-op program on the left) from CDHS did her 2015 Spring Co-op Placement at The Holmestead. Tiana not only worked on various art projects, but she also experienced many aspects of print production and bindery.

Ashe Amodeo was our CDHS co-op student in the Fall of 2014. She will be going off to study Fine Arts in the Fall of 2015. Until then, we have the pleasure of aristic talents. The image to the left is an illustration of our official greeters, Sarah and Grissom, Ashe produced for our 2014 Christmas card!

In the last semester of 2014, The Holmestead had the honour of working with two co-op students! Jessica Russell from CDHS and Stephanie Miles from Stirling. Both young ladies excelled in all they were given. Miss Jessica graduated with honours and awards. Jessica is off to college in the fall and Stephanie goes in January 2015! both young ladies will be an asset to their classes and future employers!

Kali Newman (no photo) was our 2012 high school co-op student. She mastered Illustrator – a print production application – in less than 2 months. Quite an accomplishment! She also received multiple awards at her high school graduation June 27, 2012, including the Governor General’s Bronze Medal Distinction Award. Kali is off to MetalWorks Institute in Toronto, and helps out at Campbellford Canadian Tire when she happens to be home for a break.

This is Grissom, the official “greeter” at The Holmestead: Print & Business Services.
